Vinciguerra Glacier is one of the biggest glaciars in Tierra del Fuego. It's a unique trekking, that combines the feeling of loneliness in the mountains, that at the same time combines being close to nature.
This excursion leaves early in the morning, picking up the passengers from their hotels. We head towards the Valley of Andorra (near Ushuaia), up to the 'Tranquera Verde' (end of access to Andorra). Here we leave the truck and start the trekking through a peaty path, walking on flat terrain for about 20 minutes. We will reach the Arroyo Grande, that we will cross with a bridge.
On our way, we will see beaver's dams, reddish peat, lengas, ñires and coíhues woods (typical trees from Tierra del Fuego). We will star the first ascending part of the path, for approximately 2 hours, until we reach a spectacular waterfall on the edge of vegetation. This is the perfect spot to take our first break (20 minutes approx.). Here we will have a snack (fruit) to recover energies and take photographs of this wonderful scenario.
We continue climbing up, crossing valleys and peat bogs, and start the last part of the route. We have to make our last effort to finally reach the indescribable Témpanos Lagoon, in the middle of The Andes. Here we will enjoy our lunch box, at the edge of this splendid mirror of water, where we will be able to take spectacular photos.
20 minutes away, we will see the ice caves of the glacier. As long as weather conditions and terrain permit, the guide and the group can enter the caves briefly to take pictures. After this, we carefully begin the descent, returning to our starting point, where the transfer will be waiting for us to drive us back to the city.
